100 Mile House Town
The District of 100 Mile House is situated on Highway 97, BC's main arterial north-south route. It lies northeast of Vancouver and south of Prince George. It is 458 km, a 5 hour drive from Vancouver, approx. 385 km, 4 hour drive from Abbottsford and 334 km, a 4 hour drive to Prince George. 100 Mile House, South Cariboo's dominant community, was originally one of the stopping points along the gold rush trail and was originally named Bridge Creek House and began as a small rest stop. 100 Mile House was so named because it was located 100 Miles from Lillooet (Mile 0) of the Cariboo Wagon Road.
100 Mile House is the primary service center for the South Cariboo serving approximately 25,000 residents. The town offers a diverse selection of shopping, pubs restaurants, grocery stores, and many unique speciality" shops as well as a modern hospital, ice Arena, curling rink, bowling, tennis, theatre, 9 hole & 18 hole golf course, fitness centres, soccer field, ball parks and library. 100 Mile House is the handcrafted Log Home Capital of North America.
